CZECH REPUBLIC

RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE

From the 23rd meeting, held on 20 May 2020 to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.

World War II and the condemnation of crimes against humanity committed in particular during the two world wars.

I.

1) on the occasion of this year's 75th anniversary of the end of the greatest military conflict in human history, accompanied by crimes against humanity and the genocidal crimes of the Holocaust;

2) in view of the other major wars of the past century, in particular World War I, and the crimes associated with them;

3) Recognizing its responsibility to preserve its historical memory and its role as guardian of democracy and respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms;

4) Condemns the crimes against humanity committed by the Nazis in the years II. World War II against the Jewish, Romani and Slavic populations in the Third Reich, the genocide of Armenians and other religious and ethnic groups in the Ottoman Empire during World War I, as well as any other genocidal violence committed anywhere on Earth;

5) Calls on the international community to cooperate effectively in preventing human rights violations in the world and in resolving disputes through negotiation and peaceful means;

II.

Instructs the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic to forward the adopted resolution to the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
