RECOGNIZING APRIL 24, 1915 AS A SIGNIFICANT DAY COMMEMORATING THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE OF 1915

RESOLVED, This House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations recognizes April 24, 1915as a significant day commemorating the Armenian Genocide of 1915; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this House also extends to the victims, families, and members of the Armenian American Community ourdeepest sympathy for the 1.5 million Armenians who lost their lives during the massacres and deportations perpetrated by theTurkish Government; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit duly certified copies of thisresolution to the President of the United States, William J. Clinton, the entire RI delegation to the US. Congress and the ArmenianNational Committee of Rhode Island, and the Armenian Martyrs Memorial Committee of Rhode Island.
